Bunny Shirts!!!

These are so cute :D, I've been making a ton of them for Easter lately!!

The kids that get these are going to look completely adorable, my poor children haven't had theirs made yet(haha oops!). It's just a simple appliqued bunny and with little touches here and there and the child's name, but it turns into such an adorable Easter shirt!

So, I wrote this last April.

Some Pumpkin Patch goodness!

My kids love Halloween, the costumes, the candy, and all of the excitement leading up to the main event is cause for major mayhem at home.

They're all crazy excited for the trick or treating that will happen tomorrow and can hardly contain themselves. Both younger kids put their costumes on anytime they find them and walk around the house expectantly lol.

To help them let off some Halloween steam, their daddy and I took recently took them all to a church pumpkin patch and they each picked out their very own.

They even had stickers to give to each child for decorating! You better believe that every single one of those stickers made it's way onto those pumpkins.

We have the pumpkins proudly displayed on the mantel; they're small so they fit perfectly up there with everything else.

Graceful Turtle

Ok, so maybe turtles aren't very graceful, but this one is very cute! Who could resist a ballerina turtle? No child that I know, at least.

It's been a while since I made anything for my kids, so I thought I'd start by making them each a little toy turtle (pattern found here). This ballerina turtle was supposed to be for my older girl, who's actually in dance, but my younger daughter discovered it and fell in love, I couldn't break her heart and tell her no after I saw her sweet face.

Now, to make 2 more! I'm thinking a pirate turtle for my son and a fairy turtle for my big girl, I'll definitely post picture of the other 2 when they're finished!

June!

How is it already June?! This month my biggest princess will be turning 5. It's mindblowing that this little girl will be schoolage in 2 very short weeks!

 I showed you guys a few pictures of fabric a while back and said I was playing catch up. Well, I'm still working on 2 of those projects(slowly but surely), but I completed one that I've been trying to finish since last year! Lol procrastination is a dear friend of mine, we're starting to cut ties though, thankfully.

This is the Christmas table runner my Aunt requested last year that I started and got cut out and partially appliqued. It sat for a couple months untouched, and then I just finished it, all at once.

It's a relief to have it done now I can give it to her and it's one less unfinished project laying around begging me to work on it :p. Oh did I mention that I made it reversible? Because I totally did and, of course, gave myself twice the work that I really needed to, haha.

At least she enjoys receiving her Christmas decor in the blazing summer.

Isn't my Aunt beautiful? Can you believe that she has 3 grown kids?! Love her so much!

Women's Clearance Shirt Refashion!

Finally, a post about women's clothing! I know I've been more inclined to post about babies and kids clothes, they're just so much cuter and easier to work with (less fabric).

The other day I actually went shopping for myself, this doesn't happen very often, but I had a really great coupon and it was kind of part of my mother's day gift. I found this really cute shirt, it had a high low hem on the bottom, was modest up top, 3 quarter length sleeves, and pretty neutral, PLUS it was on clearance for $7 and with my coupon it was only about $3!! Holy moly, how could I pass up a shirt that's cute and only $3!?

Well, I wasn't paying very much attention to the back of the shirt and found out, when I was already home from the VERY busy store, that the back had this huge gaping hole. Not a cute little cut out or keyhole, not a low back or even just a peek-a-boo, an intentional draped hole. It was hideous, it might've been cute if I were a young girl, but for this momma it wasn't working.

My solution to the problem was very simple, find a way to close the hole that looks intentional, so I pleated in the fabric and at each pleat sewed on bright pink accent button.

It turned out great! I wore the shirt to church on mother's day and my aunt commented on how much she loved it, especially the back with the buttons! When I told her that those were my addition she was very pleasantly surprised. It's such a compliment when the things that you make are noticed without people knowing it was you, until you tell them and then they're shocked.

 I love my new shirt, and I know this doesn't help much, as far as people wanting to make things from scratch, but it does show you another way to add interest to a top that you're making for yourself or your child!

My new minis :D

I don't think I've mentioned this before, but most of what I make is either repurposed or upcycled. I'll take fabric from a huge t-shirt and turn it into a dress for one of my girls or a cute skirt, or completely take apart an item of clothing and use the pieces to make something much better with them. Repurposing and upcycling!

My newest creations are an upcycle from a vintage Dior sweatshirt jacket from the 80s! Lol it was actually one that I considered keeping intact and settling as vintage, but the zipper pull was completely broken and some the seam finishings were already looking a but pitiful.

So after a good wash and dry, I turned something that might have otherwise between thrown out into a new cute item for lovers of bows!

I know, pretty "green"of me right? Lol not only is this ecofriendly, but there are a lot of ways to wear these miniature beauties.

 

My favorite is wearing 2 at once under a high bun, so so cute and fashion forward! (sorry, forgot to take a picture of this one)

Can you tell I really love these? I've got a surprise too...are you ready? Too bad, you'll have to wait until tomorrow. I won't be cruel though, my post will be early and you'll like what I to say so that'll make it even better.

We're always busy and lately has been no exception. 

Dirty Faced Birthday Boy

The month of February is always insane because it's my birthday, my son's birthday, my parent's anniversary, my brother's anniversary and then all the aftermath of presents to sort through.

Yes, I did make his shirt.

Now that all of that is squared away, I'm getting back into the swing of things.

All three kiddos!

I completed 3 new dresses for the Etsy shop, signed up for 3 ads with my husbands employer and have TONS of things in the works that I'll be sharing with you hopefully soon!

I think the last one is my favorite, just because I really dig the bright plaid, it just screams warmer weather! The other two I wanted to be a little more pastel considering that they'd be worn by newborns and it's Easter season so pastels are always a good way to go for little people.

14 Days of Valentines Wrap Up

Well, I started the series a day behind and due to some unfortunate things I'm ending it a day late as well. It probably wasn't the best series ever, but I did it, I stuck with it and I've learned from it. These past 14 days have given me the chance to wake up and come up with something I'd want to share with the world. This whole experience has helped me grow as a seamstress, as a creative mind, as a blogger and it's given me something to shoot for. Thank you for following along with me, and I hope everyone sticks around for more, because I've got some more things up my sleeve.

Boys Robot Shirt

This shirt was made for my son for Valentines day, but  remembered that I had bought him a shirt already so it's just a cute new shirt for him now! I appliqued the robot onto the front of the shirt and then above that I added the words "Love Machine". Isn't that too flippin cute? Lol

I used the same method of applique that I mentioned in this post to applique the robot to the shirt. To put the words on the shirt I decided to use a freezer paper stencil. This method of stencil is great because freezer paper has a shiny side and a matte side and when you iron the shiny side onto fabric it seals off the edges of your stencil. You can do practically anything with a freezer paper stencil, it's really awesome!

The way the words turned out was really cool, I just love how it almost looks aged because it's not solid lettering.

Toddler Valentines

My daughter has seen all the hype I've created for Valentine's day and asked to make Valentines herself. We got out the construction paper and markers, a little glitter and glue and went to town.

I had her color on some pink paper and then cut a heart out of the scribbled area.

We added the heart on one card front for her Grandma and Papa, and put the heart negative on another for her Grama T.

We added some glitter to the middle of one of the hearts! She did so well to not make a big mess; which, for a 2 year old, is pretty impressive.

Then we made a card for Daddy :) he got extra hearts.

Don't these cute cards remind you of Valentines you made and exchanged when you were little? I know they'll all love their Valentines, what did you do with your children to get them involved in Valentines Day?
